The great burning questions some ask is why do you write and why write poetry? Novalis said, and I quote, “that poetry heals the wounds inflicted by reason.” Since life is about choices and each choice leads each of us over different paths, poetry is the fork in the paths where we all meet, whether at a sunset or a sunrise or a still blue lake. There are no critics anywhere about, just landscapes of the human spirit and people.
My Grandmother said that, “a creative thought left unspoken or unwritten diminishes mankind as a whole.” Whether this is true or not, this is my offering from my Altar to each of you.
This is why I write poetry.
